Let's imagine you have a choice between two doors. 

Behind Door A is a room where everyone agrees with you. 

• They like the same things. 

• They think the same way. 

• They have the same opinions. 

• They always tell you that you're right. 

Behind Door B is a room where people are different from you. 

• Some agree with you. Some don't. 

• Some have completely different interests. 

• Some see the world in ways you've never considered. 

Which room would you choose? 

Door A might sound easier. But Door B is probably where we'd learn the most. 

Because when everyone thinks like us, we only ever see the world from one perspective. We miss the chance to hear a different story, discover a new idea or see something in a completely different way. 

At our school, we place huge importance on the diversity we see in our community. 

We celebrate our differences because each of us reflects something of the incredible diversity of God’s creation. 

God created incredible diversity. Look around your tutor room! 

• There are people who are confident and people who are quieter. 

• People who love sport and people who couldn't care less about it. 

• People who are creative, analytical, funny, thoughtful, competitive, curious, practical, adventurous, careful...  

• People with different cultures, languages, families, experiences, beliefs, interests and ambitions. 

And none of that is an accident. The Bible begins with the simple but extraordinary idea: “So God created mankind in his own image.” – Genesis 1:27 

Every person is made in God's image. That doesn't mean we all look the same or behave the same. In fact, the amazing thing is that the God who created such incredible variety chose to make each of us uniquely. 

Your challenge this week: Be curious about difference. 

Notice something that is different from you. Perhaps a different opinion, interest, culture, experience, talent or perspective. 

Instead of judging it or ignoring it, ask a respectful question. Be curious! 

You might discover something new, understand someone better, or even find something you have in common. Difference gives us something to discover.

God, 

Thank you for creating a world full of variety and for making every one of us unique. 

Thank you for our different personalities, talents, cultures, experiences, interests and ways of seeing the world. 

Help us to recognise that difference is not something to fear, but something we can learn from. 

Give us the courage to listen to people who are different from us, the humility to recognise that we don't have all the answers, and the kindness to make sure that everyone feels valued and respected. 

Thank you that each of us is made in your image.
