We Value Trust and Truth 1

Weekly Worship from Mrs Duzniak
Would you describe yourself as a truthful person? Do other people trust you?
For each scenario below, consider the following questions:
1. What is the truthful thing to do?
2. Would you do this?
3. What are the consequences of not telling the truth both now and in the future?
4. Why is it tempting to lie?
Scenario 1
You are in the Premier shop in Redcliffe, and the cashier gives you the wrong change. She gives you £10 more than she should! What do you do?
Scenario 2
You totally forgot to do your homework. When your teacher asks you about this, you are tempted to say you left it on the bus!
Scenario 3
While walking home from school with a friend, a random couple ask you for directions. You are unsure, so make up some directions and hope they are right!
In the moment, it can sometimes feel easier to lie, but this can have a much bigger impact in the future!
In Proverbs 12:19, it says,
Truth will last forever; lies are soon found out. Proverbs 12:19
It is always better to tell the truth as lies will be found out eventually! Take a moment now to reflect on how truthful you have been over half-term – were there moments where you told a lie? How can you put this right?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I don’t always find it easy to speak the truth. Sometimes I am worried about what people will think and at other times it is just too easy to lie. Help me to be truthful so that I am trustworthy. Thank you for our school community. We pray that we can become a school where truth and honesty are commonplace, and we all can trust each other. Amen
