We Can Communicate 1

Illustration of a handshake with words that say, connect united. Two hands shaking each other over a word cloud.

Weekly Worship from Mrs Duzniak.

Try this activity with the person next to you. Tell them what you did over the weekend but without speaking.

Could you survive if you didn’t speak for three days? How would you communicate? Have a discussion about how you would communicate instead.

This film shows some people who tried this and what they learnt!

The best form of communication is when our words match our gestures. This makes it really easy for someone to understand what we are saying.

Jesus was a brilliant communicator. He listened, asked questions and told stories. People loved talking to him and listening to him.

How can you improve your communication skills? Here are some ideas:

  • Learn some words in a different language
  • Think about your volume when speaking
  • Smile more
  • Listen more
  • Make eye contact
  • Make sure your hand gestures and tone of voice match what you are saying or feeling

Here is a prayer that you will know well in lots of different languages. As you hear the words, think about how you can communicate more effectively.
