We Are Creative

Weekly Worship from Chaplain Josh

If you could invent anything to make life better at school, what would it be?

Share your ideas with each other!

And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills – to make artistic designs...Exodus 35:31–32

This verse is about Bezalel, a man chosen by God to help build the Tabernacle. God didn't just give him faith; He gave him creativity, imagination, skill, and the ability to turn ideas into reality.

Sometimes when we hear the word "creative," we think of artists, musicians, actors, or designers. But creativity is much bigger than that.

Creativity is what helps scientists discover new medicines. It's what helps engineers design bridges and invent technology. It's what helps teachers explain ideas in new ways and students solve problems when the answer isn't obvious.

Every day, you use creativity more than you realise.

Think about these questions:

  • Have you ever found a different way to solve a problem?
  • Have you ever helped a friend see something from a new perspective?
  • Have you ever had an idea that improved something, even in a small way?

If so, you've been creative.

God is the ultimate Creator. The Bible begins with God creating the world, bringing light out of darkness and order out of chaos. As people made in God's image, we are invited to be creative too. To imagine, explore, build, write, perform, design, lead, and innovate.

The world needs people who are willing to ask, "What if?" and "How could this be better?"

Let’s finish with a prayer

Lord God,

Thank you for creating each of us with different gifts, talents, and ideas. Help us to be confident in the abilities you have given us. Inspire us to use our creativity not just for ourselves, but to help others and make a positive difference in the world. Give us the courage to try new things, learn from mistakes, and share our ideas with confidence.

Amen.
