Remembrance Day

Rows of Poppies on Crosses Public Domain Image from publicdomainpictures.net

Weekly Worship from Mrs Duzniak.

On Tuesday 11November at 11am we will be pausing as a community to remember all those who have lost their lives because of war and conflict around the world.

We wear poppies to help us remember, but I quite like the image above.  It suggests that there is a story and a family behind every life that has been lost and that we are all connected to their stories in some way.  Use the short film below to help you think about how we are all connected.

We are very fortunate to live in a country that is currently at peace.  But right now there are wars happening in so many places with devastating effects.  Can you name any countries as a class – there will be many more.  Perhaps your tutor can have a look at this with you today.

Let us pray for peace.

God of Peace, we pray for countries all across our world that are fighting.  We pray for peace.  We pray for leaders with the power to change these situations.  Grant them wisdom and creativity to help resolve each and every conflict.  We pray for all families affected by war.  For children, the sick, the elderly and those who do not know how they will eat and where they will sleep because of bombs and fear.  Please help all the charities and organisations trying to sustain them through this time.  We ask all this in Jesus’ name.  Amen
