Question

Weekly Worship from Chaplain Josh.

If you could ask one question and be guaranteed a completely honest answer, what would you ask?

Take 30 seconds to have a think about this and share with others.

Questions are powerful. They reveal what matters to us. They help us understand the world, challenge assumptions and discover new possibilities.

Test everything. Hold on to what is good.1 Thessalonians 5:21

God invites people to think, reflect and wrestle with difficult ideas.

A lot of people think questioning means doubting, arguing or being negative. But questioning can actually be an act of courage. Every invention, discovery and movement for change started because someone asked a question.

  • What if things could be different?
  • Why is this unfair?
  • Is there a better way?
  • What truth am I missing?

Questioning helps us learn. It also helps protect us.

In a world full of information, opinions and social media, questioning matters more than ever. Not everything we hear is true. Not every trend is healthy. Not every loud voice is right.

Wise people ask questions before they follow.

Jesus often responded to questions with another question. He wanted people to think deeply, not just repeat easy answers.

Sometimes the bravest thing we can say is: “I don’t understand” or “Why does this happen?” or “Can you explain?” or “Could I be wrong?”.

Questioning is not about tearing things down. It is about searching for truth with honesty and humility.

Take a moment of silence. Think about:

  • a question you are currently wrestling with
  • something you want to understand better
  • or an area of life where you need courage to speak up

Remind yourself: growth often begins with curiosity.

Let’s pray,

God of wisdom, Thank you for minds that can think, explore and wonder. Help us to ask honest questions, search for truth, and listen carefully to others. Give us courage to challenge injustice, wisdom to learn, and humility when we do not have all the answers. Amen.
