We Can Contribute 2

Lots of coins and paper money in a pile

Weekly Worship from Mrs Duzniak

Who is the richest person in the world?

According to a quick google search…. the richest person in the world is Elon Musk!

What is he famous for and how did he make his money – have a class discussion…

Many wealthy people give lots to charity.  Do you think that they should be made to give more to charity because they earn/have more?

Have a class discussion about this?

Should your charity donations be proportional to how much you earn?

Here is a story from the Bible where Jesus gives us his opinion about this:

Jesus’ view was quite different.  The poor woman gave a little from the little that she had and Jesus recognised this!  He wasn’t interested in the contributions of the wealthy.

Our Alive value this week is ‘We can contribute’.  The story of the widow’s offering shows us that we don’t have to be wealthy or talented to make a contribution.  In fact, Jesus is more impressed by those who contribute when they have hardly anything to give!

God can use your contribution, however small.  Don’t wait to feel talented and special, try contributing whatever you have got to give today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you see our hearts and are not impressed by how rich or powerful we are.  Thank you even a small contribution is valued by you.  When we lack confidence to get involved, help us to realise that you see our efforts, however small, and will bless us.  Help us to encourage each other to contribute to our school community in different ways.  Amen
