Sequencing, Setting and Support

This course follows the Edexcel exam board scheme of work. Designed for a 2-year delivery, the curriculum follows three overarching themes that are applied alongside practice and learning:

1: Mathematical argument, language and proof

2: Mathematical problem solving

3: Mathematical Modelling

Classes are mixed ability and lessons are adapted to support all learners. Additional support is offered via Twilight class each week giving students the opportunity to consolidate their learning further.

Our curriculum is fully resourced to support SEND students. Notes are provided on printed sheets. Lessons are adapted to cater for the learning needs of individuals.

Homework and how Parents/Carers Support Learning

All homework is set on Bromcom which is an app and website available to students and parents/carers. Further information is available on our Bromcom parents and carers support page.

These are the principles which underpin our homework.

As you are aware, completing homework and revising regularly is essential in learning and retaining mathematical skills and knowledge. Students are expected to work on exercises from the online textbook that consolidates the work learnt in class. We expect students to work a minimum of 5 hours a week on these exercises and other resources.

Our Moodle area has a wealth of resources designed to support students’ learning, including course notes and past paper exam questions.
