Homework is an important part of a student's education, allowing the opportunity for consolidation of work done in school and for self-supported study at home. It may take many forms, as appropriate, including written work, research, learning, extended projects, practical projects and oral activities. 

The Homework Timetable indicates which night each subject's homework is to be set; not by when it needs to be done. Your child’s teachers will decide when the homework is to be handed in. The structure of the timetable is designed to encourage KS3 students to plan their workload throughout the key stage, so that they become self-disciplined enough to approach GCSE coursework requirements in a positive way.  

Homework should be set using Edulink (more information below) so that students are aware of exactly what to do, where to access resources and when the homework is due in. Homework should always be accessible to students of all abilities.    

Approximate time to be spent on homework increases according to year group, but most activities will take between 30 and 40 minutes.

Edulink  

We use a learning platform called Edulink to make sure that homework is more effective and accessible for all students. Each student has their own username and password to access Edulink, which is an online diary where all homework will be set by staff this year. This will mean that students only need to look in one place to know exactly what they need to do and when they need to do it! There is a helpful guide for students below:
