Isolated But Not Alone 16

Hello. Welcome to INA, a weekly resource to remind us that even though we are physically distant, we are connected in community. This week's INA is about freedom.

What did you take from this video? I think it shows examples of both freedom and a lack of freedom all over the globe.

Freedom Facts - True or False?

Here are Some TRUE OR FALSE facts about freedom.

How do you react to those facts? It makes me want to use my freedom to speak out!

Freedom is often hard to describe. Wherever we are in the world, we will have a different angle or answer. What does freedom mean to you? The National Geographic travelled the globe asking people this question:

The lockdown has caused many people to reflect on what freedom means to them. As the government eases some restrictions, it's important to remember that other people may not be able to exercise the same 'freedom' as you. We all need to be wise about how we navigate this next phase, so that our countries and communities can heal in every sense of the word.

My friends, you were chosen to be free. So don't use your freedom as an excuse to do anything you want. Use it as an opportunity to serve each other with love.

Galatians 5:13

God of Freedom. May we grown in freedom to express who we are and help others to express who they are. We pray for those who are trapped in modern slavery, may we see great freedom through the work of charities and individuals. We pray for the LGBTQ+ community as they face discrimination across the world, give them courage and wisdom to challenge injustice. We pray for those religious groups persecuted because of their beliefs, give them faith, hope and love to stay strong.
We pray for all those quarantined and unable to express the freedom they would like to, give them patience in this difficult time. Give us all wisdom about how to use our freedom. Amen

Young minds asked around 2000 young people what were the most and least helpful things for their wellbeing during lockdown, here's what they said:
