Some of the press coverage we received this year
A2 (A Level)
The overall pass rate was 99%. 81% of grades were C and above.
There was a very high take up of university places. We have 11 students awarded places at Oxford and Cambridge and 9 are taking them up; Toby Tallis (Natural Sciences Cambridge), Bill Golden (History and Economics Oxford), Edie Turner (Philosophy Cambridge), and Lottie Sellers (History Oxford). Also Adrianna Hunt (English Cambridge), Josh Lanham (Geography Oxford), Stanley Wilshire (Geography Oxford), Lula Innes (Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic Studies Cambridge) and Daffyd Alexander (Art Oxford).
Two students off to study medicine are Beranger Igiraneza (Medicine Bristol), who won his place with the support of the Bristol Scholars Scheme, and Kadija Meghrawi (Medicine Bristol), who picked up her results on her birthday!
Other notable successes were Amy Smith (Natural Sciences Durham), Luke Hatton (TBC), Matthew Forth (Aerospace Engineering Bristol), James Gibson (Economics and Economic History LSE), Kate Bentley (Gap Year), Thandi Madula (TBC), Christopher Allen (Ancient History Durham), Emily Brown (Geog/International Development UEA), Amaya Cosgrove (History Leeds), Erin Davies (Chemistry Cardiff), Martha Eustace (Architecture Bath), Abby Harding (TBC), Finn Heath (Physics Lancaster), Adela Mackie (Law Bristol), Emily Mayon-White (Eng Lit Edinburgh), Alex Moore (History Leeds), Maura Rolls (Eng Lit/Creative Writing Newcastle), Maia Tamrakar (Gap Year), and Jack Underhill (Gap Year).

GCSE
In Maths and English, the new number grades were introduced. 4 is equivalent to a C. 7 is equivalent to an A.
This year there was a 99.7% pass rate (last year 99.1%) and 83.6% of grades were at C/4 or above (last year 78.4%). 32.3% of grades were at A/7 or above (last year 31.8%)
We are really proud of all our students who achieved so well. An impressive 5 students achieved two grade 9s on the new mark systems for English Literature, English Language and Maths, and another 6 got 1 grade 9. Grade 9 is much harder to achieve than the old A* and is the equivalent of an ‘elite super A*’! 17 students gained 9 or more grade A/7+ qualifications.
High attaining students included Eleanor Heaps, Grace George, Ben Kelly, Adina Gitahi, Beth Nott, Emily Moore, Will Rodliffe, Tim Gibberd, Nadia Vryoni-Dickson, Sophie Greenwood, Louisa Paynter and Ella Khanna.
Both Ben Kelly and Beth Nott got A* with Distinction for their Further Maths GCSE, the second year we have offered this course. Achieving a distinction puts their results amongst the top scores in the country.
We were very proud of the excellent rise in Maths and English higher grades. Grades C/4 in both English and Maths rose from 75.5% last year to 86.9% this year. The new grade 5 represents a high C or low B and 68.4% of our students got a 5 or above in English and Maths compared to an average of 42.1% for the City. I want to congratulate both staff and students on the way they tackled teaching and revising for the tough new Maths and English exams.
