We Value Diversity and Choice - Y9 Options to Choose GCSE subjects
Over the course of their ViP lessons in January, Year 9 students will be finding out more about the options process for their GCSEs. They will also be having careers input in all of their lessons to help them make their choices.
During Term 3, Year 9 students should gather as much information as possible about the different options available and discuss their thoughts with parents and carers, tutors and subject teachers. Some students will also be given an interview by Mr Taylor - our Deputy Head; Mrs Whittaker - our SENCo; learning mentors or other members of staff, to help them to make sensible decisions.

On Wednesday 22 February we held our Options Information Evening for parents and carers in the school hall. All parents and carers were sent an email with information about the event and a link to the Eventbrite booking system to reserve their places. For those parents and carers unable to attend we will either share a video of the event or provid a narrated powerpoint of the slides we will be using. Please check back on this page for further details.
We have written a Frequently Asked Questions document for parents and carers which is designed to address any queries you may have.
On Thursday 23 February 2023 all Year 9 students were sent an email to their school email address with a link to an online options form (a copy of this email was also sent to parents and carers at the same time). Students then had a couple of weeks before the deadline of Tuesday 7 March 2023 to submit their choices via the online form.
Our options at GCSE are based on our school value of diversity and choice with faith at the centre. We offer much more choice than many Bristol schools but can't guarantee everyone's first choice although we will do our best!
If students or parents and carers have any questions about the options process, they should contact their tutor in the first instance or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
