Design Technology

Throughout Key Stage 3, students will be introduced to a wide range of activities and tasks that will develop their skills in Design and Technology. When they begin a project within the Design and Technology Faculty, they will be given tasks that will encourage them to research, generate original ideas, develop them into exciting designs and then manufacture them to a good standard.Throughout Key Stage 3, students will be introduced to a wide range of activities and tasks that will develop their skills in Design and Technology. In Years 7 & 8 Design and Technology, students complete a two year rotation made up of five specialist areas:


• Product Design - Graphic Products

• Product Design - Resistant Materials

• Textiles Technology

• Systems and Control

• Food Technology


These areas allow students to explore and work with a range of materials, including food, textiles, woods, metals, plastic, cards and papers and electronics.
In year 9, students will opt to study two of three specialist areas from:


• Product Design

• Food Technology

• Textiles Technology
